Hello and welcome to LaughingWolf.com! I am Henry Patton, resident artist and owner.
The name Laughing Wolf comes partly from my great affection for and admiration of wolves, and partly
from a friend who remarked that I reminded her of a "laughing wolf." The name stuck, not
only as this web site but as my studio.
I am first and foremost an animal painter, both wildlife and domestic. Even though I continue to
work in a number of different fields, including web site design and illustration, I am in my
heart a painter of animals. Secondly, I consider myself an educator and activists thus the
information and alerts found on this web site. As part of my role as an educator, I take every
opportunity to use art to teach about wildlife, animals and our role as stewards
on this earth.
I am also dedicated to the rehabilitation, release and return of wildlife to their natural habitat
as well as the preservation and expansion of habitat. As part of this effort a portion of the
proceeds from the sale of my paintings and prints goes to various wildlife, environmental and animal
rescue organizations. It gives me great pleasure to have the occasional opportunity to help organizations
with their fund raising efforts through donations of paintings and prints.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to observe, paint and photograph wolves, elk, bear,
moose, buffalo, wild cats, deer and other wildlife in their own wild habitat. For most of us, these
opportunities are becoming more and more rare. My greatest fear is their total
disappearance from the wild. It is my hope that through my art I can touch people's hearts with
the beauty I find in these animals so that together we can make sure they continue to roam free in
their own habitat.
