Each day in America and around the world thousands of animals, both wild and domesticated, suffer great
abuse at the hands of humans. In America thousands of puppies and kittens are "put down" each year because
of overpopulation and neglect; all
across Asia dogs and cats suffer horrendous treatment on the way to someone's dinner table; wolves are
hunted, driven to exhaustion by fast moving snowmobiles and then easily gunned down by "trophy hunters;"
bears are imprisoned in tiny cages for life with rusting catheters plunged deep into their gallbladders;
and aged zoo animals are sold off and shot down in canned hunts by "sportsmen." And on and on and on.
Here we stand at the top of the food chain, carelessly, often with great malice, slowly destroying the very
creatures that have sustained us throughout history. Instead of being thankful for the sacrifices they
have made while guaranteeing our survival, we turn our heads, refusing to see how the beef, chicken and
pork industries not only abuse but torture thousands of animals just to put meat on our dinner tables.
Sure, it turns our stomachs and brings tears to our eyes when we read about the abuse of dogs and cats in
Asia where they are farmed under terrible conditions, crammed by the dozens into wire cages, and shipped alive,
starving without water, for miles to be slaughtered at the marketplace - sound familiar, it should it's the same way we treat chickens
right here in America. Are we more humane because we do this to chickens, not "man's best friend?"
If not the chicken industry perhaps the PMU Farms
are the equivilent to China's Bear Farms. Pregnant mares are put through months of pain, boredom, thirst and worse so that their
urine can be collected to make the Menopause Drug Premarin. And when their foals, an unwanted by-product, are born they are often
shipped off to slaughter houses in Canada where they are turned into meat for European dinner tables.
The industry continues to thrive and grow despite the many alternative drugs available. Women, please ask your
doctor for an alternative drug!
This page is dedicated to the lives of the thousands of animals that suffer daily at the hands of humans.
As information on animal and wildlife abuse, animal rights violations and calls for action come across my
desk, I will be posting them here. Also, there will be posted links to animal rights, rescue and wildlife
organizations. If you have information you would like to see posted, please let me know by
emailing me. Thank you for your continued
support of our brothers and sisters, remember the words of Chief Seattle of Suqwamish and Duwamish tribes:
"What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness
of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever
befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth."
